  • Provide you with information about local funeral directors and their products and services
  • Process your enquiry
  • Provide and personalise the services presented to you
  • Contact you to gain feedback on the services you have received
  • Display a message that you have submitted to a private or public online Funeral Notice
  • Meet legal obligations regarding crime prevention and prosecution of offenders

Section 4 – Sharing your data

Will Golden Charter share my personal data with anyone else? After submitting your enquiry, your information will be passed to your chosen funeral director. Your chosen funeral director will contact you separately and may retain records of your personal data. Please request a copy of their privacy policy for further information.

If you make an enquiry or use our Funeral Notice service, we may use your personal information as necessary to comply with legal obligations by providing your information to a third party in relation to crime prevention and the prosecution of offenders.

Section 5 – Who do we share with?

We will pass your personal data to third parties. The following third parties will receive your personal data for the following purpose(s) as part of the processing activities:

  • Funeral director → To facilitate your funeral arrangement journey
  • Selected third parties → To help us to provide services to you

We will not pass on your personal information to any third parties not referred to in these terms, except where we have your consent to do so, or it is otherwise compliant with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

We collect personal data from visitors to this website through the funeral arrangement journey through online forms and also through telephone enquiries directly to funeral directors via the number provided on the website.

We collect additional information automatically about your visit to our website through the use of cookies. A cookie is a small piece of information sent by a web server to a web browser, which enables the server to collect information from the browser. Funeral Notice

Where you have created an online funeral notice or submitted a message/memory to a private or public online funeral notice:

  • the information collected will appear online until you request that your information is removed, the family associated with the funeral notice requests that it is removed or 14 months after the creation of the funeral notice. If the funeral notice is removed, all information relating to the funeral notice will be deleted after 90 days
  • your email address will be deleted after 30 days of you having provided it

Section 7 – International transfers of your personal data

Information may be transferred internationally to other countries around the world, including countries that do not have data protection laws equivalent to those in the UK. We have security measures in place to seek to ensure that there is appropriate security for information we hold.

Section 8: Your right as a data subject

At any point while we are in possession of, or processing, your personal information, you, the data subject, have the following rights:

  • Right of access - you have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you
  • Right of rectification - you have a right to correct information that we hold about you that is inaccurate or incomplete

  • Right to judicial review - in the event that we refuse your request under rights of access, we will provide you with a reason why. You have the right to complain as outlined in the section below.
