Company History
Paul J. Rowland Funeral Directors Limited is a small family independent business established in the year 2000. The business now has two premises situated in the Mid Kent Shopping Centre, Allington and at 4 Hillary Road, Penenden Heath, Maidstone in Kent, providing a caring and personal service to all our clients' family and friends.
Both premises are comfortably furnished with facilities for embalming and chapel visits, where people can relax in an informal environment in which clients can discuss and finalise any funeral or memorial arrangements. Should anyone prefer these discussions to take place in the privacy of their own home, we are only too pleased to accommodate their wishes.
About Paul Rowland
I was born into a Naval family, with my father being a Lieutenant Commander (Shipwright) RN and my eldest brother being a Lieutenant (Engineer) RN. Therefore it comes as no great surprise that I was educated at a Naval boarding school (the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook) near Ipswich in Suffolk. I enlisted into the Army in September 1964 as a Junior Tradesman Driver/Radio Operator and was stationed in Troon, Ayrshire, Scotland. I completed a 22-year engagement with the Royal Corp of Signals, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant and serving in the UK, Germany and Cyprus and being responsible for the administration of many staff of many nationalities.
I have over twenty years experience within the funeral profession and since retiring from the Forces in 1988 have lived with my partner Christine within the Medway area. My daughter Liza joined the family team ten years ago with a good response from the public for a lady funeral director. She has passed her diploma in funeral directing and is a great asset to the company. Liza was educated at Our Lady's Convent High School in Alnwick, Northumberland. She combines her funeral profession with being a nurse for twenty years at the Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham, Kent. She is married with two children, Georgina and Harry, and lives in the Walderslade area.
We are members of the Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors operating within the strict Code of Practice set out by the Funeral Ombudsman Scheme, and endeavour under all circumstances to provide full and correct information regarding the services that are available to you. Our aim is to listen to and treat you with respect and courtesy at all times in an effort to meet your personal needs and to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the quality of service that we are able to provide. Our intention is to offer a comprehensive service at a cost tailored to our clients requirements with office facilities and personal visits available seven days a week, evening visits are by arrangement.
When you suffer bereavement, a funeral for a member of your family is the most difficult day of your life. Everything your family and friends thought about a loved one is expressed on that day.
When someone dies it comes as a great shock. Sometimes the death may be expected, but nothing prepares you for the emotional shock of losing someone close.
As your funeral directors, we are here to help and advise you in whatever way we can. We are dedicated professionals who provide a personal service to you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
It is a rare privilege to be your funeral director, to stand in a sensitive position at a crucial time in the midst of your family, knowing that the quality of our service and reputation will help you through this most difficult time in your lives.
It is not our policy to impose or apply undue pressure on you or your family. It is important for many people to reflect the character of the deceased within the arrangements and this often requires time and thought to do so.
