About Us
In 1982 Steven Near embarked in to the funeral profession with the
Co-operative Funeral Service. In 1984 he created Steven Near Funeral
Directors and remained there until October 1987. Shortly after which the
business was taken over by a multi-national company and as such ceased to be an independent family owned concern.
Near & Near Undertakers was established by Janet and Steven Near in 1988, carrying out their business at The Mews, David Street, Grimsby, initially
under the name of Terence Hartley Funerals.
After a year or so the business name changed to Hartley Near and in 1991 it finally
became Near & Near Undertakers.
Near & Near Undertakers is a locally known and locally grown Funeral
Director Company, independent of any other, with premises in both Grimsby and
Immingham. The longest established family owned and run undertaking business in Grimsby with the client’s wishes always at the forefront of the considered advice given.
2013 will see the business celebrate twenty five privileged years, the privilege of
serving and supporting thousands of bereaved families both locally and
further a field.
Staff at Near & Near Undertakers, with in excess of 100 years of collective
experience, will, with great care and understanding, continue to help and guide families through such difficult times in their lives.
Our funeral homes in Grimsby and Immingham offer a relaxed and informal
environment perfectly suited to the private, sensitive discussion of funeral
arrangements. However, should a home visit be preferred, we are more than pleased to accommodate this. Our experienced staff will ensure that every
procedure is covered and every detail concluded from the moment we are
contacted by you to the day of the funeral and beyond.
