Alun H. Lewis Independent Family Funeral Directors is a family owned business established by Alun in 1982, although his experience within this profession began in 1978 when he trained for four years with a

well-established firm. Over the years we have built our reputation on being dignified, caring and professional in all aspects of our work, and whilst there have been many changes within the profession, our role continues to be one where we support families before, during and after the funeral.

Coping with bereavement is one of the most painful and difficult times in our lives, and regardless of whether the death is sudden or expected, none of us can be prepared for the distress and pain it causes. Each individual has their own way of dealing with their grief – there is no right or wrong way.

As funeral directors, we stand in a sensitive position at such an emotional time, supporting and helping you through this difficult period. We are dedicated professionals, wholly committed to providing a caring and sympathetic service to the highest standards, offering complete discretion along with advice, support and understanding to you and your family when you need it most.

We fully understand that each individual is different, and therefore ensure that the funeral truly reflects the life and character of your loved one. Our funerals are completely tailored to the requirements of the family – whether you would prefer a traditional service or one with a modern feel, we have both the expertise and the experience to accommodate your needs. We can arrange a service for any religious denomination or, if preferred, a non-religious service along with the option of a 'direct cremation'. We also offer eco or green funerals which are environmentally friendly, and again can be tailored to your requirements.

Our premises are located close to the main access roads in the area, yet offer seclusion within three acres of private gardens, allowing families the opportunity to visit their loved ones in complete privacy and peace.

Although we are based in the depths of ‘Waterfall Country’ at Pont Nedd Fechan, outside Glynneath in the Neath Valley, we also serve the Dulais, Swansea, Cynon Valleys and beyond. Communities served within our locality include the following:

A repatriation service is also available, which ensures that wherever the death occurs, we are able to arrange the safe return of your loved one.

Our staff are also fluent in the Welsh language therefore should you wish, funeral arrangements may be made via the medium of Welsh.
