Howarth's were originally known as C & R Howarth Joiners and Undertakers and are known as high quality Funeral Directors in Wakefield. ‚Äč Ian Howarth is the sole proprietor of Howarth Funeral Service, Ian has lived in Ossett for a number of years and is one of a very few Funeral Directors in Ossett who actually live in the town. Ian's eldest son, Neil Howarth, is an experienced Funeral Director having worked in the business for over 20 years; he is involved in the business at the highest level. Ian's Father, Raymond Howarth, is pictured on the right conducting a funeral in Wakefield in 1941, he passed away in May 2015 after a long battle with Diabetes, Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia. He retired from being a funeral Director at the age of 66 years but still kept a keen interest in the welfare of the business to the very end. His memory will be treasured. Sophie Morley helps with the running of the Office at Thornes. Sophie assists with funeral arrangements and pre-paid funeral plans. Sophie also arranges funeral buffets in our function rooms. Maria Jeffries M.B.I.E. (formerly Maria Bettison) has worked for Howarth's, since leaving school, Maria is a qualified embalmer and plays a key role in the running of the office and in the care of the deceased. Lynne Howarth Dip.FD is a fully qualified funeral director and works from the Thornes Office on Denby Dale Road, Wakefield.. Other key staff include Brothers Paul and David Midgley and Garry Wilson who have multiple roles in the business
